Paths are synonymous with journeys, whether actual physical journeys or ones taken in a figurative sense to show the natural progression of our lives and the choices we make. This very beautiful “Around the Tree” hand-painted canvas portrays a path winding around a small group of trees in a seemingly deserted and barren landscape. It’s brown, red and orange colors suggest it is set in the autumn months whilst the sky behind leads us to believe it is a dawn scene with the sun rising.

It’s both slightly melancholy and undeniably cheerful all at the same time. The loneliness of the path and landscape are balanced with a joyful anticipation that whatever has happened previously, there is brightness and happiness about to pop over the horizon. The trees can be symbols of mankind and almost appear to be human figures gazing towards the light. What you take from this oil painting will be dependent on your own experiences and what is taking place in your life now. With paintings like this, we are allowed to construct a narrative ourselves with which the artwork becomes ever more special in meaning.

The hand-painted oil on canvas autumn trees scene is individually created and thus no two pieces are alike. A painting like this will look splendid in a living room, bedroom, or dining room where it will contribute to the general décor scheme of the interior whilst also offering an aesthetic focus and perhaps a helpful contrast. Slightly philosophical art pieces like this one also fit well into more cerebral environments such as home libraries, home offices, as well as meditation/yoga spaces. If you like art with a lot of contemplative value then this delightfully rich autumn tree scene with winding path will suit your tastes.

You can buy it from here: Around The Tree Hand-Painted Canvas.

Order soon for each one can take a little while to be completed once ordered.

It’s often said, we are what we eat but have you ever considered you are also what you write on Facebook or Twitter? This is the basic concept behind the ingenious social media portrait which you can place on your wall. All your Facebook or Twitter messages you’ve posted over the last few weeks, months or years can suddenly become an intimate part of your home interior décor whilst forming the basic shape of your face. You can see an example below.

The group behind the creative social media portraits is a Dutch company called Art Buzz Amsterdam based in their native country of Holland. The customer visits their website where they upload an image they want turned into a piece of wall art and then sign-in to their Facebook or Twitter account to gain the statuses and tweets that will form the design and look of the portrait. The process is very simple and is explained in more detail on the website.

It doesn’t matter what type of face you have, what expression you show nor even whether you show your face at all. A photo of you walking in a scenic environment or of your beloved pet cat, dog or budgie can be turned into a Twitter or Facebook work of art for your walls. There is a selection of color choices as well as size options so as to find the perfect design for your décor scheme. Place the finished result in a contemporary bedroom or living room setting and impress your friends and guests with both your fabulously unique portrait and your previous statuses and tweets.

Read more about it all on their website found here: Art Buzz Amsterdam.

The distinctive look of owls makes them an ideal subject for fine art, sculpture and home interior décor. This “Who’s Hoo” framed art print is a fine example of great owl themed artwork to fit on your wall. Featuring a parliament (the term for a group of these birds) of owls, the print is a reproduction of work created by the famed American bird artist Don McMahon. The cheerful collection of owls is beautifully represented and will bring a swish of color and visual interest to an interior setting.

There are a number of different types of owls and each one is portrayed in this art piece. You have, amongst others, the barn owl, the barred owl, the great horned owl, the screech owl, the snowy owl and the great grey owl. The parliament of owls is like a who’s who of the highly recognisable nocturnal bird species. You’ll note that all the expressions are different with some owls looking rather sleepy whilst others show either gentle disdain or intrigued concentration (perhaps after seeing your pet mouse).

Don McMahon’s art work can be seen across North America and his passion for drawing and painting birds was born from his childhood. The attention to detail and the fantastic characters that the birds possess are testament to an artist who loves to paint and to watch birds in their natural habitats. The latter quality of which, the artist gained from his mother, who was herself a world-renowned bird watcher.

Owls in western societies have for a long time been associated with wisdom. The ancient Greek goddess Athena, who was the goddess of wisdom, even had the owl as a symbol. Owls were also important cultural symbols in many societies around the world including in pre-European North America, South Asia, Africa and the Middle East, where they were seen as unlucky omens. This framed art piece however is not unlucky and will take pride of place on just about any interior wall. If you have a home study, studio or library, then the wise collection of owls will fit perfectly with the studious ambiance of the room.

Chromotherapy (color therapy) has long been accepted as a way of healing the body and mind. Some of the first peoples to use such techniques where the ancient Egyptians and their love of color can be seen in the art that survived from the period. Interior Decorators today spend a lot of time choosing the right colors for a room and this also encompasses decorative canvas wall art pieces which are used to add thematic highlights and accentuate an interior.

Relaxation is probably the most needed human condition we require in the hectic and busy societies of the modern age. After a long and hard day at work, we like nothing more than to come home and relax as best we can. Whatever age we are, it can be difficult to find true relaxation for more than just a few minutes. However, there are certain colors and related images that can encourage us to find a deeper form of relaxation without us even realising or trying. So what are these colors and images?

Blue – The most popular color amongst men, blue is widely regarded as a color which causes the body to release chemicals that lead to calmness and serenity. It’s also a good color for use in home offices and studies as it aids concentration and productivity. Care does need to be taken however as too much blue can lead to sadness and the “blues”.

Canvas wall art images that contain blue and will enhance relaxation include tropical beach scenes, savannahs, oceans, aviation and avian themes, sunrises, daytime cityscapes, swimming dolphins and those rather fascinating satellite images of earth from space.

Green – Like blue, green can be seen just about anywhere and everywhere, for it’s the color of grass, plants and the leaves on the trees. It’s also a relaxing color and is used by television companies to help people relax before appearing on a show; they sit in a “green room”. Green can also apparently improve concentration, especially when reading.

Wall art canvas images with green that will help relax the body and mind include forest scenes, grasslands, close-up animal shots in grass, plants, trees, fruit and vegetables, rice paddies, tropical rainforests and Irish and Celtic art.

Brown – Certain hues of brown can make wonderful additions to an interior. Brown inspires relaxation and a bond with nature, in a similar way to the above two colors. Brown can be seen a lot in wooden and leather furniture as well as wooden flooring and walls. In a white room, brown can bring a touch of antique character and rustic charm together with a general sense of wellbeing. However, too much brown in one space can bring about a certain amount of melancholy.

One might not imagine wall canvas art would be all that attractive in brown but there are some themes which work it well. These include images of furniture, woodlands, landscapes, tree bark, seeds and grains, crop fields, fabrics, sunsets, autumn leaves, bears, old 19th Century photographs, deer and wood floors.

There are some other colors which can contribute to a sense of calmness and which can be considered when decorating a room. Unlike the above colors however they are used primarily as background tones and would be more difficult to find in canvas wall art images. These colors include ivory, beige and light gray. There are of course a whole range of colors in between the above mentioned colors which will also be considered relaxing and ideal as decorative accents.

Looking for easy-to-use wall decals that display a decidedly dotty theme? If so, you will like this dot shaped removable wall decal available in a wide range of different colors. Wall stickers are fun ways to add color, vibrancy and themes to any room in the home and have the added benefit of being easy to remove and re-apply in a different location. The various different sizes bring an extra dimension of creativity to the wall.

The Dottilicious multi-colored wall decals are ideal for a contemporary living room, funky dining area, children’s bedroom or a bathroom that needs an injection of color and excitement. Affix the different sized dots in whatever arrangement you so desire and if you get tired a few weeks later, you can start over and create a new pattern. This is because of the easy to remove self-adhesive vinyl which the Dottilicious dot decals are made from.

There are a multitude of colors in each pack. Eighty to be exact and this allows a broad scope of decorative possibilities when it comes to adding a wall based decorative spark to an interior. One smaller dot can even be placed on a larger dot so as to bring about a direct contrast in colors and shapes, as one can see in the image above. Don’t worry; they won’t even damage the walls to which they are attached.

You can buy these dot shaped wall decals here: Dot Themed Removable Wall.

The human form has long been one of the most popular subjects to paint and portray. This wall art set showing a trio of African women in silhouette form is no different and adds a contemporary touch to the age old art form of human figurative paintings. The hand-painted oil on canvas set is composed of three separate canvases, each with a single African female silhouette against a soft colorful and sky-filled background.

When assembled together, the three individual art canvases can be placed on a wall in which ever order is deemed the most pleasing. Two of the female African figures appear to be dancing or walking whilst the third holds a beautiful red pot. Each of the trio of women are simply dressed with colorful skirts and adorned with white jewelry including arm bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

The forms of the three African women highlight their delightful femininity and graceful movement. Contrasted with the soft colors of the background and skirts, the black silhouettes produce an eye-catching focus and visual appeal. Placed on a wall in a contemporary interior, this wall art triptych will provide a warm and pleasant accent piece to the ambiance of the room. This will especially be the case if the setting has an African theme.

You can buy this oil on canvas wall art set from here: Three African Women Silhouettes.

When a room such as a bathroom or utility room is without a window, it can be difficult creating a cheerful and spacious atmosphere to the interior. That’s where faux window scenes come into play. Faux window art or photography can enhance a room’s ambiance as well as make a small and poky interior look larger than it really is. Mood is an important aspect to consider in all rooms of the home and that’s another benefit a cheerful faux window beach scene such as this one brings.

The faux window beach scene is a lithograph of an original piece of artwork. This particular seaside scene was created by an American artist by the name of Kristy Edwards. The scene is of a real place that the artist visited especially for the painting. A faux window beach scene such as this watercolor artwork is both beautiful and beneficial to the human mind when placed in a small windowless room. It’s also a great idea for anyone who suffers from the winter blues to place on the wall in a room regardless of how many windows it has.

A saw tooth hanger means the lithograph is easy to hang up wherever desired. If you appreciate watercolor art and need to make a windowless bathroom or general living area appear bigger and brighter, then this faux window beach scene art lithograph is a great choice.

Screen printing was first developed in China sometime between the 8th and 11th Century AD. It then gradually spread to other parts of Asia and later, in the late 1700s, to Europe. In more modern decades, the likes of Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg made the art of screen printing prominent in the public’s minds. Now a new generation of screen printers is emerging and one of my favorites is the young Anglo-Finnish illustrator Sanna Annukka who has just opened a new online store where her work can be purchased.

Sanna Annukka studied at the University of Brighton on the south coast of England. In her final year, her speciality moved to the area of screen printing and the results of her practice are truly stunning. As well as being commissioned to illustrate an album cover of well known British band Keane, she has also had her work showcased and sold in London stores. You can read more about the young and talented Anglo-Finnish illustrator Sanna Annukka on her new website which can be found here: Illustrator and print maker Sanna Annukka.

These prints would look lovely in a variety of rooms such as a home study or dining room. Their intricacy is something to admire and contemplate over time and is bound to offer new perspectives and discoveries each viewing. Most are made of between three and four colors of similar hues which will mean they will compliment a certain interior color scheme wonderfully.

So what is screen printing exactly? You can find detailed information on this subject as well as its history on the following page: Screen-Printing.

It’s always a pleasure to come across the work of a new artist and this is the position I was faced with when I first saw the work of the young American artist Natasha Wescoat. Below you will see an example of her work which has been turned into a colorful tree tapestry named ‘Trinitary’. The colorful tree tapestry as well as much of Wescoat’s work is in many ways reminiscent of the work by Gustav Klimt and Paul Klee. Both favorite artists of mine mainly for their stunning and tasteful use of color.

The colorful ‘Trinitary’ tree tapestry shows three trees on hilltops which can be symbolic of many things to different people. Whether they convey meaning or not, the beautiful forms, tones and colors will compliment and highlight a varied array of home interiors. The tree tapestry can for instance be hung in the living room over the hearth and will become a vibrant focal point for the family during the evenings. Alternatively the colorful tree tapestry can be hung in a hallway where visitors will be able to admire the fantastic forms of the three trees and the circular leaves or stars surrounding them.

Any room in the home will make a possible location in which this colorful tree tapestry can be hung. Tapestries by their very nature are meant to be hung on a wall and their history goes back a long way. The tree tapestry such as the one mentioned here will not only inject color and contemporary vibrancy but also add a certain old-worldly air to the home. This is beneficial to many interiors especially those that seek to merge the old with the new or vice-versa.

Natasha Wescoat is a young American artist from Michigan who was born in 1982. She has already achieved what artists twice her age could only dream of. Having won numerous awards, Wescoat has also penned a book as well as having her work in collections worldwide including England, France, Japan, Bahrain, Germany and Australia to name but a few. In 2007 she was named “Emerging Artist and Trendsetter” by Art Business News.

If you like the works of Klimt, Klee and Miro, then you will like this colorful tree tapestry inspired by a painting from the creative paintbrush of Natasha Wescoat. It’s sure to add color, form, inspiration and many talking points wherever it is hung in the home.

You can buy this tapestry from the following location: Colorful Trinitary Tree Tapestry.

Annora Spence is a British artist whose work I have admired for many years. In fact I have a number of her art prints on my walls dotted around my home. I first saw Annora Spence’s when browsing a London Art Gallery and was taken by the unique style she has created and which now makes her work famous throughout the world. When you have come into contact with one painting by Spence, you will know her other works from a distance, wherever you go, without having to read the name tag. So who is she?

Annora Spence studied printed textiles during the 1980s at Liverpool Polytechnic. From there she advanced her education in the same field by gaining an MA from another polytechnic in the relatively nearby (by US geographical norms) city of Birmingham. During the 1990s Spence worked as a freelance artist and designer as well as forming a career as a painter. With the latter career path especially, her fame and global reach grew and she enjoyed sell-out gallery shows in numerous major capital cities include her own, London. In the mid-90s she evolved her work to encompass silkscreen painting which gave her style yet another dimension.

Throughout her life, Annora Spence has travelled widely. Like with anyone who visits foreign countries and continents, the sights and sounds that she came across could not help but have an influence on her art work. In particular, her journeys across Europe and India provided inspiration for many of the characters and colors she has used on many of her prints. The richness of tone, of color and texture hark back to the cultural gems she must have seen in the Mediterranean regions of Europe and the fashion and craft of the Indian Subcontinent.

Much of her work is filled with humor and certain amount of quirkiness. This provides a wonderful basis for abstract enjoyment which comes across in her art prints. What I particularly like is her use of color which shows her ability to merge different hues and tones that many people just cannot do, in a tasteful manner anyway. Eccentricity is a key factor in her work and this is intentional on the part of Annora Spence.

I recommend looking through the wonderful portfolio of British artist Annora Spence. If you want to add some color and originality to your walls, then her work is certainly a very good option to consider. They look good placed into nice simple wooden frames as well.
