Horses have been an integral part of Chinese history and cultural development. It’s thus no surprise that Chinese horse sculptures have been created through the many centuries and become popular with buyers worldwide. Probably the most famous example of Chinese sculptures and statues are the The Terracotta Army which is also known as the “Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses”. These date from 210 BC.

Among the 8,000 soldiers are over 650 horses made from terracotta along with additional items like chariots. These are not the only Chinese horse sculptures from the ancient history of this region. Horses were a vital aspect of life for cultures around the world and this was no different in China where the animal was used for work, war, trade, transport and play. Some sculptures show women playing polo whilst others portray the heat of battle.
