Striking Wood Surfaces in a Kitchen and Dining Area

It can be a difficult balancing act when designing an interior, knowing how much of a certain material to use. This is an important factor which avoids going overboard with say, marble, stone or wood. Too much of one form or color can mean the room involved quickly becomes visually uncomfortable and physically mundane. The images below show what I feel is a combination of materials that has achieved an aesthetically pleasing balance and rewarding look.

The markings on the wood and the solidity and functionality the surfaces produce compliment the metal cupboards and drawers below. It’s only as a secondary realisation, we see the floor is also made from wood, whilst the walls are decorated with delightfully understated tiling patterns. Plastic stools add a further material element to the scene.

Here, the main feature again, is the wooden dining table surface. As to the table’s authenticity and type, I am uncertain, but from the pictures it provides a visually resplendent focal point to the interior.

I completely agree about good balance of materials. In my industry (decorative painting) it is so easy to go overboard and it is the worst thing you can do for a client’s aesthetic. A pleasing mix of “background” and “wow” textures is key. Loved the play by play with each photograph.

Loved the wooden surfaces……but honestly I am more interested to ask you about those Plastic stools for entirely selfish reasons. Could you please provide a link on where I could get those? thanks in advance.
