A beautiful decorative glass bowl can act as a wonderful accent for any home interior. If it is comprised of colorful rings, swirls or swathes, the bowl can shower a part of the room during the day merely by being placed close to a window. At night, if located near to a candle flame or table lamp, a similar effect can be gained, this time through artificial lighting. This glass bird figurine bowl as shown below is just such a decorative accessory.
The Glass Bird Bowl is the creation of Philadelphia glass blower Jim Loewer. His work consists of various sculptural forms, many of which also function as bowls and vases. Influenced primarily by Japanese art & crafts, Loewer’s work also focuses on contemporary organic forms inspired by nature.
This decorative bowl in the picture is a whirlwind of red and cream with a glass bird figurine perching on the rim. The slight imperfections of the piece highlight the individual handmade (or hand-blown) quality of the colorful bowl. Whilst intended mostly for decorative uses it can also serve a function. It’s a nice little place to put herbs and pot-pourri for use in a living room, bedroom or hallway. In the bathroom it can be used to store soaps and bath balls.
