The Mexican designer Ivan Hernandez Quintela has come up with a cunning shelf that will appeal to current and former servicemen across the globe. The ‘Mexican Army Shelf’ which is inspired by the Swiss Army Knife, is basically one shelf with many functioning and retractable shelves inside each with a specific function.

Quintela was born in Mexico City in 1974 and went on to study architecture at the University of Texas in the United States. At present he teaches at the Universidad Ibero Americana in Mexico City. He describes a lot of his projects as studies on “how we share space and how the objects that surround us affect the way we share it”.
