The look of delicate unbalance is a heavy theme throughout the series called “Possible Furniture” by the Austrian designer Robert Stadler. His work brings into question the role of the designer, with each item of furniture looking like an unlikely random pile. However, this is not the case for each piece has been carefully designed using the laws of ergonomics and ease of use. In a way, the designer’s input has been seemingly reduced in the viewer’s mind.

The status of the items also comes into question. Are the seats a work of art or a viable product in their own right? Boundaries are crossed both in labels and with line between the serious and the absurd.
